The Legend of the Blue Chairs

Without the famous blue chairs, the Promenade des Anglais, would not be the same. For years those chairs are part of the seafront in Nice.
They have become a legend and throughout the world they became a symbol of the town of Nice. Their style and color (azur blue) are today part of the myth of the French Riviera
The first chairs appear around 1900 but, it is in 1948 that the model we know today was introduced. Their last modification dates from 1996 and where created by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. There are over 2000 chairs to be found along the Promenade and in some parks. Feel free to use them, they are free. But please respect them, and don't take them down to the beach.
Have a nice rest
